Our individual attendance more than doubled, rising from seven swimmers last year to 16 individual swimmers this year. With Zoe F also joining the relay squads, 17 DTSC swimmers represented the club across the weekend. 🏊💚💙
Saturday August 1st - Day 1
Day 1 featured all four of our 13/U relay teams. Our A team of Jasper L, Ian C, Skylar X and Alyssa C finished 5th in the 4 × 50m freestyle relay and 9th in the 4 × 50m medley relay. Mathew W, Hannah R, Zoe F and Maxwell L also represented DTSC strongly in both B team relays.
There were some outstanding individual performances on Day 1. Jasper and Ian delivered excellent 100m freestyle PBs, with Ian swimming 58.53 to finish 8th and Jasper recording 58.12 to finish 5th, breaking Anthony Boussounis’s 13-year club record 🏆. Despite his limited training, Terence also produced a fantastic 100m freestyle PB of 53.40 to finish 9th and improving his own 17-year club record 🏆.
Jasper dropped time in the 100m backstroke recording a time of 1:08.76 to finish 8th. Ian broke Cody Greenwood’s 13-year 100m butterfly club record 🏆, improving it from 1:09.83 to 1:08.51. Thomas wrapped up the individual races for day 1 with his 50m breaststroke, posting a time of 32.30 to finish 9th. 🏊
Sunday August 2nd - Day 2
The strong racing continued on Day 2. Alyssa recorded two impressive PBs. First, in the 100m individual medley, recording a time of 1:10.19 to finish 6th and smashing Kayla Costa's club record 🏆 by over 2 seconds. Second, in the 100m breastroke where she put down a brilliant time of 1:19.17, dropping almost 3 seconds off her personal best.
Ian delivered another excellent performance, this time in the 100 individual medley where he recorded a time of 1:07.54 to finish 7th and breaking Anthony Boussounis’s club record 🏆 by almost 3 seconds. Jasper also placed 10th in the 100m individual medley.
One of the most exciting moments came in the Boys 12-13 and 14-15 200m freestyle, where four DTSC swimmers finished within just 1.81 seconds of one another: Jasper in 2:10.07 to finish 9th, Ian in 2:10.40 to finish 10th, Sam in 2:11.35 and Cody in 2:11.88.
A special congratulations to our first-time individual Metro Championship swimmers: Gabriel D, Long Long H, Jasper L, Maxwell L, Oliver R, Mathew W, Hannah R, Angela S and Charlotte S. Competing at this level for the first time is a fantastic achievement. 🎉🏊
Most importantly, congratulations to every swimmer who qualified, raced, achieved a PB or supported their teammates throughout the weekend. A huge thank you to our coaches, parents, team managers and volunteers for making the championships possible. 💚💙
